Every year 250 tons of sand are transported to Rorschach for the international sand sculpture festival. 10 teams of artists from all over the world compete against each other and form the sand into impressive, enormous sculptures. It's seldom that one is able to get such an indepth glimpse into how such art works are made. After 6 days, when the works of art are finished, a jury makes its decision and awards the prizes.
Following this, the sculptures remain standing until approx. 12th September (depending on the weather).
The theme of this year is "Evolution in locomotion".
